Clinical safety tests
Carried out by an independent testing house, all of our products are presented in neutral packaging with no brand names or information, to ensure that we receive unbiased results.
A 96 hour patch test on a panel of healthy men and women all of whom have medically diagnosed eczema. The protocol that we follow is an international standard to determine the irritation potential of a cosmetic product.
The protocol involves applying a patch to the skin containing the product for 4 days. At the end of each day the patch is removed, and the skin assessed by an expert for any sign of irritation. The products are tested against both a positive control and negative control to demonstrate the validity of the test.
The results from the study are reviewed by a dermatologist and a paediatrician against their strict criteria to ensure that the product is:
- Dermatologist approved
- Paediatrician approved
- Suitable for newborns*
- Safe for people who may be prone to eczema
- Suitable for sensitive skin
- Kind, mild and safe for skin
*All products are tested as suitable for newborns with the exception of our pillow spray and our sun care range, which is tested as suitable for 6 months old and upwards, following NHS recommendations that those under 6 months shouldn’t be in direct sunlight.
Atopic eczema
Sensitive and eczema prone skin is prevalent worldwide with:

- 1 in 6 children under five suffer from atopic eczema in Northern Europe
- 2 in 5 children under two suffer from atopic eczema in Australia
- 1 in 10 under five suffer from atopic eczema in the USA
- 13% of Chinese children aged 0-7 have clinically diagnosed atopic eczema
